One of the Busiest Weeks in Cannabis

First up, Organigram Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: OGI) continues their hot week with yet another announcement. Curaleaf (TSX: CURA) announced the closing of a landmark $500 million private placement of 11.5% senior secured notes due 2029. Finally, Margaret Brodie, CEO of Rubicon Organics (TSXV: ROMJ) will joins us to share the companies first completed harvest at their new Cascadia facility.

Cannabis equities caught a welcome bid on Thursday, with several names posting sharp gains heading into the close. Verano Holdings led the broader pack with a 17.3% advance, while Terrace Global surged 27% and YCBD climbed 26%, all on the same day that options on several cannabis names were set to expire.

Margaret Brody, CEO of Rubicon Organics, who joined to discuss the company’s first harvest at its newly licensed Cascadia facility in British Columbia. Brody described the acquisition as a standout value play — the company purchased the roughly 50,000-square-foot indoor facility for $4.5 million and invested another $1.5 million in capital improvements, against a replacement cost she estimated at $18–20 million. Brody said the facility, which received its Health Canada cultivation license in October, is now fully planted and expected to expand Rubicon’s production capacity by 40%.

Curaleaf’s announcement that it had officially closed a $500 million private placement of senior secured notes at 11.5% drew considerable attention. Organigram, which had a notable week of its own, announced a $65.2 million private placement tied to its acquisition of Germany’s Sanity Group, backed by British American Tobacco—a major move signaling accelerated international expansion in the global cannabis market.

Massachusetts celebrated a historic milestone, surpassing $10 billion in total legal marijuana sales since adult-use legalization passed in 2016. With $1.65 billion in 2025 recreational sales alone, the state’s Cannabis Control Commission executive director predicts consumption lounges will bolster the industry in 2026. Meanwhile, Arizona senators advance bills that would criminalize “excessive” marijuana smoke and odor as a nuisance crime, even on private property, raising fresh regulatory concerns just years after 2020 adult-use legalization.
