Brady Cobb Talks Cannabis Industry Changes For 2025
In this episode of the Trade To Black podcast, we’ll examine the latest headlines and implications of the current political changes happening, including Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s surprise resignation. We also meet with Brady Cobb, CEO of Sunburn Cannabis, who will join us to talk about things we need to pay attention to in the industry for 2025.
The Congressional Cannabis Caucus welcomed two new pro-cannabis representatives, Dina Titus from Nevada and Ilhan Omar from Minnesota. Dina Titus has shown unwavering support for cannabis reform, including rescheduling, banking, and states’ rights. However, Ilhan Omar’s political reputation is a bit divisive. Could it hinder bipartisan efforts and drive reform under the Trump administration? Anthony and Shadd dive into industry news and speculate on what these new representative’s approaches will be to help advance changes.
In other headlines, Canopy USA, LLC announced today the appointment of Mr. M. Brooks Jorgensen as their first-ever president. AgriFi is selling its cultivation assets to CP Acquisitions and pivoting to hemp-derived THC beverages. This move eliminates $7 million in convertible notes and positions the company for growth in what is predicted to be a breakout year for cannabis beverages.
2025 could shape up to be an active year for cannabis changes, but the industry will have some challenges to overcome, particularly in key states like Florida. As you might recall, Amendment 3 did not pass in Florida during the election in November, and that failed to bring to bear what could have been the largest legal cannabis market in the world.
Since then, many cannabis stocks such as Trulieve (OTC: TCNNF) and AdvisorShares ETF (NYSEARCA: MSOS) experienced 52-week lows to finish off 2024. With a new year upon us and the new Trump administration set to take office in 2 weeks, we discuss with Brady Cobb if 2025 will indeed be the year we see cannabis legislation in the US.
