Curaleaf’s Boris Jordan Talks 2025 Cannabis Trends
Welcome to our latest Trade To Black podcast for Wednesday January 8. We’ve got a big episode today, as Curaleaf (OTC:CURLF) Chairman and CEO Boris Jordan joins us to talk about some of the key cannabis industry developments for 2025 and his progress in trying to speak with the Trump administration. We explore what’s happening in federal cannabis reform, banking challenges, price compression and more.
Inauguration is two weeks away, and many in the cannabis industry are waiting to see whether big changes will be happening under the incoming Republican administration. Donald Trump’s appointees will have a part to play in helping or hindering cannabis reform, and with the three branches all leaning right, there should be fewer reasons for party division.
One of the issues that will hopefully see some momentum under a Republican congress is the state of cannabis banking legislation. Smaller cannabis operators continue to suffer banking discrimination. If the stars align correctly, there’s expectations that Pam Bondi will have the impetus to see things done. We’ll share our thoughts on whether there’s reasons to be optimistic about the new presidency.
In the wake of Amendment 3’s failure and ongoing uncertainty about federal legalization, the markets continue to face price compression in the US. Still, New York and Ohio’s recent adult-use changes offer some significant growth opportunities.
We’ll get some insights on how Curaleaf is improving efficiency and pursuing growth in the US and internationally. Boris Jordan believes beverages will dominate the cannabis sector, predicting they’ll make up 50% of the market share in the future. Americans’ strong preference for beverages as a consumption method underpins this projection. Boris Jordan says Curaleaf is responding by expanding its beverage line, which currently features eight SKUs (flavors), and plans to release more innovative offerings in 2025.
Lastly, Dan Ahrens, from AdvisorShares joins the podcast to give us the latest performance updates. Be sure to tune in to hear the details.
