NextLeaf CEO Talks Canadian Cannabis Landscape
Our Monday episode of Trade To Black for September 16, 2024, tackles some of the big news that happened over the weekend. The big headline to share: former President of the United States Richard Nixon said only two years after declaring “The War On Drugs” admitted that he knew that cannabis was not nearly as dangerous as people have been lead to believe since his administration. Hosts Shadd Dales and Anthony Varrell give you the latest headlines, plus an interview with Emma Andrews from Nextleaf Solutions to discuss the current cannabis landscape, and MSOS Monday with Dan Ahrens from AdvisorShares.
Emma Andrews from Nextleaf Solutions (CSE: OILS) brings an update on extraction and what we have learned since the early days of cannabis. The six-year anniversary of Canada making cannabis legal is looming on the horizon, and each of the major provincial markets have contributed significant data to the growth in the industry. Find out more about what the biggest learning lesson for Nextleaf Solutions was, and learn about some of their innovative processes.
Despite his actions and rejecting a federal commission’s recommendation to decriminalize marijuana, a recently unearthed recording indicates that Richard Nixon knew cannabis “was not particularly dangerous.” The recording was discovered by Kurtis Hanna, a Minnesota lobbyist and an advocate for legalization, while browsing the Nixon Library’s archives. Hanna shared this recording and findings with The New York Times, and it was published over the weekend.
We will also review some of the price action from the MSOs last week with Dan Ahrens from AdvisorShares (NYSEARCA: MSOS) on the podcast. Dan Ahrens shares his opinions on whether share prices in the cannabis industry will remain flat leading up to the US Federal election scheduled on November 5th, and if we could see increased trading volume in cannabis stocks at some point.
