The Latest: Organigram Acquires Motif & ALJ Hearing Schedule

The MJBiz conference in Las Vegas highlighted a cautiously optimistic outlook for the cannabis industry, but it was interesting to see that some of the major publicly traded MSOs went without CEO representation. Instead, private MSOs and brand-focused companies took the center stage. Much discussion centered around increasing lobbying efforts planned for 2025, and industry players are preparing for the possibility of reform under the new administration.
Among the participants at the conference, there seemed to be a strong consensus that rescheduling is likely, but the concerns over bureaucratic delays remain, not to mention pushback from the DEA. Inconsistent state-level regulations and the lack of a unified, national framework continue to pose their own challenges, as seen in Texas. Still, the atmosphere seemed markedly positive, indicating that there’s confidence in the industry’s ability to influence policy. We’ll share our thoughts.
Beena Goldenberg gives us the details about Organigram’s (Nasdaq: OGI) acquisition of Motif. There are expectations that the move will cement them as the #1 LP in Canada from a total marketshare perspective.
