Let’s examine the highlights from companies in the TDR Comprehensive Cannabis Index!

Cannabis Policy Highlights from our Friends at Marijuana Moment:

  1. Arizona’s Senate Bill 1262, introduced by Senator Sonny Borrelli, seeks to address the predatory acquisition of social equity marijuana licenses by large corporations and investors, intending to return them to the marginalized communities they were meant to benefit.
  2. Hawaii Senate committees have advanced a bill for legalizing marijuana, with a floor vote expected next week, amidst discussions on amendments and regulatory oversight.
  3. Senator John Fetterman criticized President Biden’s exclusion of military code-related marijuana possession offenses from federal pardons, advocating for cannabis to be regulated like alcohol.
  4. A new study finds that marijuana consumers report significantly lower odds of cognitive decline, challenging previous assumptions about cannabis and cognitive health.

Crypto:

Acceptance of Bitcoin ETFs at major securities firms is increasing; however, being listed on an exchange does not guarantee that your custodian will allow you to trade it: Bank of America’s Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo are now offering spot bitcoin ETFs to their wealth management clients, following SEC approval of such funds.

Indonesia is considering revising its cryptocurrency taxation policy due to a 62% drop in tax revenue from crypto transactions in 2023, amidst challenges such as the rise of illegal exchanges and a ban on crypto payments for tourists in Bali.

AI:

Elon Musk is suing OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging the company’s partnership with Microsoft has diverted it from its original mission to develop AI for humanity’s benefit, focusing instead on profit.

Mistral AI, a France-based startup, has launched a new large language model named Mistral Large, aiming to compete with leading AI systems and featuring multilingual capabilities and a chatbot interface, amidst significant funding and a strategic partnership with Microsoft.

umm, well, look at this chart, it doesn’t even compare themselves to GPT 4.5, in my view, they are really behind claiming they are better than GPT 3.5.

Big $ Volume Big Caps

I know Boeing (BA) is not a big attention getter in our top 50 stocks, this was interesting, at least in my view: Malaysia considers renewing the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, ten years after its disappearance, following a new proposal from U.S. firm Ocean Infinity.

Yep, you know lawyers…..

Lawyers representing Tesla (TSLA) shareholders have requested $5.6 billion in company stock as legal fees after successfully arguing Elon Musk’s pay package was illegal.

For Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), “Dune 2” earned $81.5M, marking the biggest movie opening of the year. Frankly, I am so happy. I consider “Dune 1” more of a real-life psychedelic spiritual awakening documentary than an actual movie. I haven’t had the chance yet, but I look forward to seeing Dune 2 with the family.
