Elon Musk, Plant-Based Foods And Low MSOS Valuations Are In-Focus This Week’s Trade To Black Podcast

In this week’s Trade To Black Podcast, Anthony Varrell and Shadd Dales discuss a range of issues with special guest, Danny Brody. On the menu, the panel explores Elon Musk can pull off his hostile buyout offer of Twitter, how the plant-based food industry is poised for growth and the very attractive valuations of Tier-1 U.S. cannabis stocks.

Primer On Discussed Topics

  • Twitter said Friday that its board of directors has unanimously adopted a “poison pill” defence in response to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s proposal to buy the company for more than $43 billion US and take it private. The move would allow existing Twitter shareholders — except for Musk — to buy additional shares at a discount, thereby diluting Musk’s stake in the company and making it harder for him to corral a majority of shareholder votes in favour of the acquisition.
  • A 2021 report has predicted that the plant-based food market will exceed $162 billion within the next decade. A growing preference for sustainable, healthier foods is pushing the movement. Bloomberg Intelligence (BI) produced the report, called Plant-Based Foods Poised for Explosive Growth. BI provides research on more than 2,000 companies, 135 industries, and all global markets. The plant-based food market was valued at $29.4 billion in 2020.
