On our Friday episode of the Trade To Black podcast for September 6, 2024, we analyze the latest cannabis news and discussions. Earlier this week, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to convey some of his stances on cannabis. Will Kamala Harris and the Democratic administration respond to his comments, and what will the potential impact be on the marijuana industry leading up to the Federal election? We also delve into recent developments in the state of Virginia, including Ayr Wellness receiving the distribution of cannabis licenses. This, and our latest Mic Drop with Guap segment where Guap gives us his take on Trump and Amendment 3.

In a long post last weekend on the Truth Social platform owned by the former president, Donald Trump suggested this week that legalization of cannabis “will happen,” and it will happen “whether people like it or not.” It was a conservative response that did not specifically endorse Florida’s proposed Amendment 3, however, he did indicate that he supported a ban on use in public spaces and areas.

While support for legalization does not seem to be enthusiastic, this seems to signal that Trump’s radio silence on the topic may finally be at an end. The Harris campaign has not officially responded to his comments to the public. Is there a possibility that the Trump campaign may steal the issue from the hands of the Democrats?

On Thursday, Ayr Wellness (OTC: ARYWF) announced it had secured conditional approval from the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority to establish a vertical operation for medical marijuana in Health Service Area 1. We also recount some of the other updates this week and discuss thoughts on the implications to the market.
